17-year-old pitcher expected to be leader for Team Nova Scotia baseball

Lower Sackville's Jaden Griffin has more stamps on his passport than your typical 17 year old. The left-handed pitcher has been a member of Canada's Junior National Team (U18) for the last two years and travelled to the United States , Cuba and the Dominican Republic to face some stiff competition.

MacDonald, Clarke Named Flag-bearers

Mabou Sailor and Dartmouth Paddler Will Carry Provincial Colours in Winnipeg

Sailor Siobhan MacDonald and paddler Zane Clarke will carry the Nova Scotia flag at the 2017 Canada Games in Winnipeg. The flag-bearers were announced during the team's pep rally today, July 8, in Halifax.
Ms. MacDonald, a Mabou native currently studying at Queen's University in Kingston, Ont., will carry the flag for the opening ceremonies on July 28 in Winnipeg. Mr. Clarke, of Dartmouth, will carry the Nova Scotia flag at the closing ceremonies on Aug. 13. Pep Rally to be Held at Grand Parade in Halifax

Help cheer on Nova Scotia's best young athletes on Saturday, July 8, as they get ready to represent the province at Canada's largest multi-sport event later this month. The public pep rally will be held from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the Grand Parade, 1790 Argyle St., Halifax, for the 425 athletes, coaches and managers who will be attending the 2017 Canada Summer Games, July 28 to Aug. 13, in Winnipeg.

Chef de Mission Stephen Gallant and athletes Hannah Wilkie and Ryan Munro visited Global Morning News on July 7. Host Paul Brothers chatted with Stephen, Hannah, and Ryan about the 2017 Canada Summer Games. 2017 Canada Games Apprentice Coaches Announced

Congratulations to Tracy Brown and Nicole Kenney, participating in the Women in Coaching Program

Record-breaking thrower Nicole Kenney of Bridgewater and Junior National Medalist Tracy Brown of Dartmouth have been selected to attend the 2017 Canada Summer Games in apprenticeship roles. The Women in Coaching Canada Games Apprenticeship Program provides the opportunity for each province and territory to send two female coaches to the Canada Games as demonstration of their mission to provide women coaches with practical and integrated major national multi-sport games experience.
